How to dye a human hair wig?

Yes, you can dye and tone a human hair wigs but we do not recommend bleaching human hair hair wigs. Learn more below:

At SPARX®, we only use remy human hair and this hair can be dyed a darker color or toned. We do not recommend using bleach because the hair has already been dyed at our manufacture, adding bleach can damage the cuticle and it can be challenging to close again. Instead we recommend , buying a color that is the lightest highlight that you want to have and then having a professional colorist add lowlights with a darker dye. 

We recommend using the Redken Acidic Color Gloss, if you're going to color or tone your human hair wig or topper. The gloss should be used before and after the hair is bleached and then use the leave-in conditioner. Continue to use the shampoo and conditioner and leave in conditioner afterwards until the product is gone. This kit will ensure that the cuticle closes, which will relax the hair and restore it back to it's original condition. Here are some other tips:

1. Always do a test strand - the back middle section is ideal
2. Work with a professional colorist - anytime you are coloring hair that has been colored always work with a professional
3. Use a semi or demi-permanent color and a low volume developer - it's invasive and you get same color. Only use 10 volume developer because it will only deposit color and it will not lift the hair which open the cuticle.
4. When adding color, work with small sections, apply dye to both sides and always maintain a downward direction to prevent unnecessary tangling. 
5. Note: Sport headband Wig - if you're dying or toning your headband wig you don't have to worry about the color changing because you are using hair dye and not textile dyes. If you are worried, simply use foil wrap and then push t-pens in just after the headband. Rinse the hair throughly and you'll be fine.
