FAQ | Wig Grip
How is this different from earlier versions of FirmGrip?
Because we listened to your reviews — and rebuilt the product because of them.
We've gone through six versions of FirmGrip. Every round of negative feedback sent us back to the drawing board, and every iteration made it better. Here's exactly what we changed:
Grippers — the original grippers were too thin and too light. We increased the thickness so they hold firmly through heat, sweat, and movement.
Fabric shifting — even with stronger grippers, the fabric was still moving. We solved this by adding a V-shaped quilted stitch that anchors the fabric and prevents it from rolling or bunching.
Sizing — we serve women with hair and women without, and one size wasn't cutting it. The Wig Grip Cap now comes in Petite (little to no hair) and Average (natural hair tucked inside). We also extended the Wig Grip length by one inch.
Closure shape — the back closure had a small fabric bunch that stuck out to the side. We re-angled it so the back now sits completely flat and snug.
The version you're seeing today is the result of that work. It's genuinely comfortable, genuinely breathable, and genuinely holds your wig — because we didn't stop until it did.
Do wig grip actually work?
Yep, wig grips and caps are the gold standard for wig wearers all over the world. They help secure your wig eliminating the need for glue or adhesive and they make wearing wigs bearable because the headband prevents the perimeter of the wig from touching your scalp or hair, which is often made with itchy material that can irritate your scalp and tangle your hair.
Will my wig still sit flat and will the hairline look natural?
Yes. Unlike velvet or velour wig grips that are thick and bulky, FirmGrip is made with athletic-grade brushed jersey and a cooling mesh — the same materials used in high-performance activewear. Because the fabric is lightweight and thin, your wig lays flat with no telltale ridge or bulk at the hairline. Triathlon-grade grippers and Beauty Velcro® keep everything locked in place without pulling on your hair or your wig. Secure, natural-looking, and no glue or adhesive needed.
Who should use a wig grip?
It is a must-have for anyone looking to:
-
Prevent Irritation: It acts as a full buffer for itchy, bulky wigs that tangle your bio hair and irritate your scalp.
-
Additional Security: Designed to keep your wig secure throughout messy glue or adhesive
- Seamless Natural Look: Unlike mesh or nylon nets that can slip, the wig grip keeps your bio hair flat and secure.
Do wig grips actually work?
Yes. The integrated headband grips your skin and hair, which prevents the wig from sliding back or shifting during the day.
What is the difference between a wig grip cap and a wig grip?
FirmGrip - Wig grip cap is an all-in-one solution - the wig grip headband helps keep the wig secure and the full cap cap protects your scalp and biological hair. Ideal if you want to protect your natural hair and maximize comfort.
FirmGrip - Wig grip is a a breathable headband-style wig grip, which helps keep your wig secure all day. Best if you prefer minimal coverage and just need a little bit of security.
